A TEACHER who went above and beyond during the Covid-19 pandemic has been recognised for his efforts.
Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, awarded his Citizen’s Award to PE teacher Ryan Bardsley, from St John Fisher RC Primary School and ASD Resource Base.
Ryan was nominated by a number of people for keeping children engaged in sports and PE throughout the various lockdowns over the last year.

He also went one step further and organised a masked singer competition to keep the children entertained during the holidays.
Ryan had no idea that he was going to be presented the award by Mr Gwynne and Denton South Councillor Claire Reid.
Mr Gwynne said: “Ryan is so deserving of this award. Many people nominated him and have expressed their gratitude for his exceptional hard work over the last year.
“When Cllr Reid and I turned up to present him with the award, I think he was pretty surprised. It was a real-life ‘This is your life’ moment.
“Well done, Ryan. Your dedication and your willingness to go above and beyond has made all the difference to your pupils. You truly are an inspiration.’’
Denton and Reddish Citizen’s Award was started last year by Gwynne, with the aim of thanking those in the community who have gone above and beyond to support those in need both before and during the coronavirus pandemic.
