A STALYBRIDGE road was closed for several hours this morning (Friday, July 9) after police were called to reports of a man collapsing.
Greater Manchester officers were called out late on Thursday and a small cordon was put in place on Castle Street.
Forensic investigation work was conducted at the scene, with several evidence markers being placed on the road.
Officers stated a man was taken to hospital and is in a serious condition.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Police were called shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday 8 July to a report of a man collapsed on Castle Street, Stalybridge.
“A man in his 70s was taken to hospital and remains there in a serious but stable condition.
“Initial enquiries suggest the man may have suffered a medical episode and a scene was in place to further ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
“No arrests have been made and an investigation continues.
“Anyone with information can contact police online, if able, or call 101 quoting incident 3488 of 08/07/2021. “
