TAMESIDE Pride 2021 is the borough’s celebration of diversity, tolerance and equality and it will once again look a little different this year.
Marking its third anniversary and second held digitally to ensure people are kept safe – the event will be streamed from TamesidePride.co.uk and through their Facebook page on Saturday 17 July from 7pm until late.
To continue to support the work of Tameside Pride and their local communities, they will be raising money for Willow Wood Hospice and Tameside Pride for pride cost for a big physical event in 2022. People can text TAMESIDE 3 to 70085 to donate £3, or chance the 3 to a higher number to give more.
Last year lots of people joined in virtually online to celebrate LBGTQIA+ in Tameside and it is hoped that they will again this year.
Later in the year Tameside Pride hopes to see people again in person.
Cllr Oliver Ryan, chair of Tameside Pride, said: “I’m delighted that the event is taking place as it’s important to show our diversity in Tameside, not only for the LBGTQIA+ community but for all.
“We want to help make the places where we live, work, study and play more inclusive of LBGTQIA+ community, improving the mental health and wellbeing of people through the reduction of stigma, discrimination and social exclusion.
“The event is organised by volunteers independently of Tameside Council who are happy to support the group and promote, to celebrate our boroughs amazing diversity that makes us stronger.
“I hope everyone gets involved again to join in the celebration.”
