HAVING lost out in the tightest result of all at the recent local elections, Kurt McPartland could have been forgiven for having a breather for a month or so.
But the man who was edged out in the Stalybridge Dukinfield poll by just 13 votes is already on another trail.
He will be performing at a fundraising event for local organisation Barty’s Foodbank.
The Conservative candidate will be belting out hits from the likes of Take That, Westlife and Boyzone at the gig on Friday, October 8 at Dukinfield Golf Club.
It also represents one of the first performances of the Ultimate Boyband Experience he is part of after the easing of Covid-19 regulations.
And he could not think of a better cause to choose.
Kurt said: “The main reason I picked Barty’s is it’s local and gives something for people.
“I see the effect of the work he does in the area. Quite a lot of people use him and I now a few that do.
“It makes a massive difference.

“Steven Barton, who runs Barty’s, is a nice guy too. He doesn’t just run the food bank. He also does clothes and shoes for children that need them.
“If a child feels they haven’t got something, he’ll give it to them. Likewise, if they haven’t got electricity or gas.
“At the event, people can expect the Ultimate Boyband Experience, a bit of Take That, Westlife and Boyzone – everyone loves a bit of that.
“There will also be music all night and a raffle, for which Cllr Liam Billington is sorting out the prizes.”
Kurt may have been busy campaigning for votes in the May 6 poll, agonisingly losing out after three recounts.
But he has also lined up plenty of fundraising activities, with two more set to be scheduled for the end of November/beginning of December for Willow Wood Hospice and the Cash For Kids appeal.
He added: “I agree to do the fundraising about a month ago, just after the campaign finished but the ones for Cash For Kids and Willow Wood are an annual, ongoing, thing.
“Everyone brings a toy to the event, for Cash For Kids, and we give a donation from the ticket sales.
“But during the election campaign, I didn’t manage to do any practice. We’ve not been able to gig, have we?
“This will be one of the Ultimate Boyband Experience’s first gigs back.”
