‘Friends of Mossley Park’ group awarded grant

FRIENDS of Mossley Park have been given a grant of £344 towards environmental projects.

The Friends, which were set up in 2008 to improve the park, made a successful pitch to Mossley Town Council for funding.

They told councillors the park has a ‘wonderful wildlife’ and they want to enhance that by putting up bird, bat and bug boxes and hedgehog houses.

The bird boxes, they said, are intended to attracted blue tit, coal tit, great tit, tree sparrow, nuthatch, house sparrow, robins, pied wagtail and fly catcher.

In recent years the park has undergone ‘significant improvements’ and has a children’s play area, skate park, bowling green, picnic area and outdoor classroom.
