A LOCAL estate agents is hoping to make the Easter holidays an egg-tastic time for children of low-income families.
Ashton-based Alex Jones Estate Agents are appealing to the public to support their easter egg donation campaign in aid of the Sandwich Angels.
Sandwich Angels is a non-profit community group of volunteers who make and deliver sandwiches to the homeless and hungry across Tameside and Greater Manchester.
Alex Jones Estate Agents was inspired to get involved with the group’s latest initiative by estate agent Carl King as a result of his personal experiences during the pandemic.
He said: “I had been donating to the Sandwich Angels for a number of years, but coronavirus was a particularly difficult time for me.
“I am a single father to three children, and I was made redundant from my previous estate agency job last year, roughly around the same time I was divorced.
“The Sandwich Angels were the ones to reach out to me to offer their help at a time when I was really struggling, and I am so grateful for everything they did.”
Carl has also paid tribute to Alex Jones for stepping in to help get his professional life back on track.
He said: “Like a lot of people, I’ve been finding it hard to get back into employment as the pandemic continues to disrupt businesses.
“I’m very grateful to Alex Jones for giving me a part-time volunteering role at their Ashton branch to help me get back into estate agency.
“They have been very supportive of me and of the Sandwich Angels easter egg appeal. Hopefully, once everything gets back to normal, I can apply to be full-time here.”
Alex Jones has already received upwards of 120 easter eggs at the time of going to print and will continue accepting donations up to, and including, March 31.
If you would like to donate any easter eggs to their appeal, you can drop them off in branch Monday-Friday, 9.30am-5.30pm at 92 Penny Meadow, Ashton, OL6 6EP.
