AN Ashton man was refused entry by security to Minshull Street Crown Court Manchester for sentencing after failing a Covid-19 check at the door.
Robert Gaskell, 29, of Whiteacre Road, had earlier pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a Mossley girl aged under 15.
Gaskell turned up late saying he had been ordered to leave a tram because he was unwell.
He arrived at court with a temperature, breathless and complaining of sickness.

Defence counsel Andrew Evans had a conversation with Gaskell outside court – Mr Evans stood at the top of the steps and Gaskell sitting at the bottom.
Gaskell told Mr Evans he had begun to feel unwell the previous day.
Judge Mark Savill earlier told of previous problems relating to Gaskell attending and he had been given a “very clear warning” the previous time about his punctuality.
He added it was beyond his jurisdiction to demand Gaskell be allowed to enter court.
The sentencing was therefore adjourned until Friday, March 26 with bail conditions stipulating Gaskell must have a Covid test and notify them of the result.
If the test proves positive and Gaskell has to self-isolate the March 26 sentencing would be unable to proceed.
