IF you’re wondering if there will be anything for your children to do during the half-term holiday there’s no need to get into a flap.
Tameside Cultural Services have come up with some great family-friendly activities and all with a bird theme to tie in with National Nest Box Week and the approach of spring.
Their programme includes everything from crafting to following bird-themed audio trails in outdoor spaces.
From Saturday, February 13, to Sunday, February 21, families will be able to follow our Home Tweet Home audio trail around Stamford and Hyde parks looking for hidden birds. There’s also a match the bird’s nest quiz, a design a nest box competition and ideas for making your own nest box.
Museums and Galleries have added to the programme by putting together some great crafts and activities including making a bird mask, creating mini-nests, a bird beak challenge and making finger puppets.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s executive member with responsibility for culture, said: “Cultural Services have certainly ticked all the boxes with this varied, entertaining and educational programme of half-term activities the whole family can enjoy.
“People can get into the fresh air to share some enjoyment and exercise while learning interesting facts about Tameside’s wild birds, their habitats and homes. If it rains at any point, there are lots of indoor crafts to enjoy.”
