A HYDE company was left seeing double when the latest Coronation Street character made her debut – and asking, ‘Is that her who worked for us?’
And she was literally a driving force, thanks to a road trip to Ibiza.
Kimberly Hart-Simpson is now familiar to millions of television viewers as escort girl Nicki Wheatley on the ITV soap opera.
Now Daniel Osbourne’s new love interest, she is ready to make an impact after getting her break on the famous cobbles.
But to people at Visual Architects, she is still the girl who worked with them after initially approaching them to see if she could set up a sewing business.
From there, Kimberly went on to work with them on their transformations of venues including the O2 Arena in London and festivals like Kendal Calling, Parklife and Exit in Serbia.
And from minute one, she made an impression, with Charlie Plews from the Meadow Street firm saying: “Kimberly initially arrived at our warehouse with the idea to rent a space and set up her sewing business.
“We still remember the first day she arrived, as she was bubbly and easy going.
“From the first encounter we knew it would be a good working relationship, as her own business tied in directly with what we were doing.
“Straight away we saw a mutual benefit in this relationship.”
Kimberly soon became a rising star at Visual Architects, even ending up on the Balearic island of Ibiza, working with some of the world’s most famous nightclubs.
It also saw her undertake a mammoth effort behind the wheel.
Charlie added: “As time went on, we gave her more projects to undertake and décor pieces we needed to make. She ploughed though it like no tomorrow.
“She put the late nights in and would never miss a deadline as she was a very hard worker.“Within six months of working with us, we brought her into our sales department to be an account manager and to manage and maintain her own clients.
“With such good people skills and solid as a rock, she started part-time at that point.
“Within a few months, we realised she would be a great full-time member of the team, working half of the week as the manager’s PA.
“We spent the upcoming summer in Ibiza, where she managed the décor team and worked on décor sets at some of the island’s most famous nightclubs, including Eden Ibiza and Ocean Beach.
“She took one of the company vans and drove it straight through Europe to Ibiza. From Ibiza to Dubai we worked and played together.”
Kimberly once worked as the manager of a branch of McDonald’s in Oldham on her way to stardom.
After appearing in Sky show Mount Pleasant and Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, she appeared in Coronation Street in June.
The 33-year-old insists she always wanted to be at the place she toured as a fan in 2015, a fact not lost on Charlie.
He said: “Deep inside she always wanted to be in Corrie and it’s such a pleasure to see that she has achieved her dream.
“A true warrior going and getting what she wants!”
