Two lucky people got more than they bargained for from the Easter bunny after hitting the big £50,000 jackpot.
It was a delightful Easter Sunday in Droylsden when two People’s Postcode lottery players each scooped the big prize.
The happy neighbours struck gold when their postcode, M43 6HX, was announced as the winner of Sunday’s Street Prize.
Construction worker Dean was one of the big winners. His cheque was revealed by People’s Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson via video call.
When he saw how much he’d won Dean said, “Get in! Thank you! I don’t know what to say. Oh brilliant, I’m amazed!”
Dean has two daughters and a young grandchild who he plans to treat with his winnings.
Dean said, “I’m sure they will help me spend it! My sister and cousin are over the moon for me too. As soon as we’re allowed, I’ll take everyone out to celebrate. We’ll have a few cocktails at TGIs.
“We’ll go on holiday when we can. All-inclusive to Mexico. I’ve always wanted to go. The last time I went away was 2006 so I’ve not been away for 14 years!”
Dean added, “This will really help a lot. You don’t even know. The timing is brilliant. I can’t get over it. I’m really ecstatic. I want to go and shout in the street!”
Tameside residents have struck lucky during lockdown thanks to the game. Mossley, Hyde and Audenshaw have all be drawn out of the pot with winners each taking away £1000.
