TAMESIDE has its first recorded case of the Coronavirus.
A man is believed to have tested positive for the COVID-19 bug, which is responsible for deaths around the world.
The patient is said to be self-isolating himself at home with his family.
The news was revealed by Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds, who insisted there is no need to panic.
He said: “There has now been one singular case of COVID-19 confirmed in Tameside.
“The person and his family are self-isolating and I wish him a full and quick recovery.
“Please continue to wash your hands frequently and follow advice re travel.
“I am thankful to Public Health England and Tameside Council for round the clock updates.
“There remains no need to panic – just practice good hand hygiene and take sensible precautions.”
