Lifesaving boost for Home Watch group

A NEW Home Watch group designed to make sure an estate is as safe as possible has been handed the cash to buy a defibrillator for the area.Determined residents who formed Roker Park Estate Home Watch in Audenshaw were given a cheque for £600 to celebrate getting the funds for the potentially lifesaving piece of equipment.

At a meeting at the Hanging Gate pub on Wednesday, January 20, town councillors Teresa Smith, Oliver Ryan and Charlotte Martin, presented a cheque to the committee.

The money will now go towards a defibrillator for the estate.

Roker Park Home Watch was formed after people living in the area wanted to tackle a rise in local crime and results are already described as ‘fantastic.’

Cllr Smith said: “We were really happy to secure this funding for this brilliant Home Watch that is really making a huge difference to the area.

“The defibrillator will be another great edition to this estate, where community is thriving.

“Well done to John Charlesworth and the whole committee who have done such a great job, you’re doing Audenshaw proud.”
