Stef ready to roll on in new record attempt

A DENTON cyclist is going all out to get into the record books after being agonisingly denied after his last attempt.Stef Drakopoulos felt on top of the world after riding an astonishing 47.9 kilometres in an hour on rollers.

But as he waited for confirmation that he would be in the Guinness Book of Records, he was dealt the shattering blow that someone in Italy had attempted the same thing and gone even further.

Now he is going again and aiming to beat Leonardo Sapornaro’s current record of 55.7 km.

Stef, who works as a barber at Hair by Fraser on Manchseter Road and lives on Haughton Hall Road, will make his attempt on the weekend of November 24 and 25.

Once again, he will be doing it to raise funds for and awareness of Dementia UK but also for event sponsor Country Gates and Barriers/Horizal UK and kit sponsor Kuota Bikes UK.

Stef said: “I’m doing it for one last time to get it out of my system to see how far I can go when all the training, equipment and technology involved come together on the day perfectly without any mechanical breakdowns or little injures leaving me asking what if?”

Stef will again be going for a place in the record books at the Bredbury headquarters of CGB/Horizal.
