THE North West Community Stroke Choir gave a special performance at the Tameside Hospital’s stoke unit.
The performance was attended by Tameside Civic Mayor Leigh Dreman and his consort Cory James as well as patients from ward 45 and hospital staff.
The North West Community Stroke Choir is made up of stroke survivors, families, volunteers and people who work with, or have been affected by, stroke from across the region, including members who had their rehabilitation on ward 45.
The choir performed for half an hour, singing classics such as Hallelujah and Hit the Road Jack as well as a welcome song in Maori and a song in Swahili. The choir were really keen to share the benefits of singing.
“This performance was the fourth time that they have visited the Trust.
Amanda Bromley, director of human resources at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT, who attended the performance, said, “It was fantastic to see the patients enjoying the choir’s performance and really inspirational to know that the choir is made up of stroke survivors, just like them.”
