Strictly the best? Local couple who perform with the professionals launch dance school

VICTORIA and Andy Lane have opened a new dance school specialising in ballroom, Latin, jazz and musical theatre.

The Denton couple have been professional dancers for more than 14 years.Their credits include: cruising the world, touring the UK and overseas, a residency in Las Vegas and backing Strictly Come Dancing professionals on the Strictly cruises.

Andy even partnered the late, great Debbie Reynolds, best-known for her roles in Singin’ In The Rain, How The West Was Won and the Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Now they have launched Lane’s Dance Academy with classes every Tuesday at the Grafton Centre, Grafton Street, Hyde, SK14 2AX.

As the duo’s gift to their patrons, the first class is free, and there are plenty of disciplines to choose from.

Strictly Kids is a fun way for children aged six to 11 to learn ballroom and Latin with no partner needed.

Popstars Dance is a Street Jazz kids class to learn cool moves to the latest music.

The Glitterball Experience is an adults’ ballroom and Latin class where you and your partner can learn the dances from the television show in a fun, social environment.

Victoria and Andy will also be running dance weekends which will involve a weekend full of dance workshops, performances and evening social dances.

The Lane’s Dance Academy is different to other dance schools because you will be sharing the floor with professional dancers with more than 50 years of dance experience between them in many styles.

Victoria says: “The way we teach is to put ourselves in a non-dancer’s body.

“People hear the words chasse and ball change and can often do the steps but have no idea what it means.

“We break steps down so that everyone can understand and have confidence to enjoy their dancing socially and beyond.”
