FOREVER Green Community Group has secured two 24-hour community defibrillators for Haughton Green.
The defibrillators – which will be installed at McColls on Haughton Green Road, and Tesco off Mancunian Road – will be available for local residents to use in the case of an emergency.
The two defibrillators are being installed alongside a special Healthy Living Day, organised by Forever Green Community Group, which will provide expert life-saving advice on how to use the life-saving machines.
Cathy Newton, Chair of Forever Green Community Group, said: “we are so excited to be able to provide these to the local community.
The survival rate for a cardiac arrest outside a hospital environment is just 5% – this jumps to 50% with the use of a defibrillator and CPR.
Having these defibrillators in Haughton Green could just save a life.”
The Forever Green Healthy Living Day takes place this Saturday (12 October), at the Oasis Venue in Haughton Green, 10.30am until 3.30pm.
Alongside community stalls and the Forever Green Café, expert CPR and defibrillator training will be provided to local residents free of charge.
The training begins on the hour every hour and lasts for approximately 20 minutes.
The two 24-hour community defibrillators were secured by the Forever Green Community Group with funding assistance from the Irwell Valley Foundation and Forever Manchester.
The Group would also like to thank Tesco and McColls for their assistance.
