A DANCE school based in Hyde is looking for the community’s support after being nominated in the prestigious One Dance UK Awards for the second year running.
Allegiant Youth Dance Company needs your online votes before November 27 in its bid to bring the People’s Choice Award title back to Tameside.
It’s the latest achievement for the company, which was the only Tameside dance school to recently perform at the highly regarded U.Dance Festival as its dancers were showcased at both regional and national levels.
Founded and directed by professional dance artists Keith Millward and Kirsty Whitelegg, Allegiant Youth has earned a reputation for excellence in training and performance.
Both directors are graduates of The Arden School of Theatre and The University of Salford, with professional credits including Lisa Stansfield, Plan B, Netflix, Manchester International Festival, Factory International, and Pepsi.
Allegiant has built a pathway for local young people to reach some of the country’s top performing arts schools, with former students securing places at institutions such as Shockout Arts, The Arden School of Theatre, LMA, The University of Salford, and Performers College.
Keith and Kirsty’s philosophy underpins that success. “Allegiant builds dancers who are truly ready to enter the professional world – and our results speak for themselves,” they explain.
While the company prides itself on being fun and inclusive, the pair are equally committed to maintaining high standards.
“You wouldn’t keep taking your child to swimming lessons if they weren’t learning to swim – and it’s the same with dance,” said Keith. “We dedicate our knowledge and experience to ensure students gain the tools they need to succeed, while maintaining the highest standards of training and performance.”
The One Dance UK Awards’ People’s Choice Award celebrates individuals and organisations who have made a significant contribution to the dance industry over the past year.
