Serious knee injury may end Mossley AFC player’s career

A MOSSLEY AFC footballer could never play again after a devastating knee injury was confirmed.

George Milner was carried off the Seel Park pitch in agony after collapsing in a heap during the Lilywhites’ match against Runcorn Linnets on Tuesday, October 14.

Milner was helped up the terraces to the dressing room and a call went out for the 27-year-old’s mother to attend.

Now after being rushed to hospital for scans during the 0-0 draw, the results have confirmed everyone’s worst fears.

A ruptured patella tendon, as well as other suspected damage, is likely to keep the summer signing from Leek Town away from the pitch.

George Milner following surgery

Mossley AFC said: “George ruptured his patella tendon and required urgent surgery. He’s had the surgery and is now focussing on recovery.

“We’ll be staying in contact with George and he remains firmly part of the Lilywhite family.

“We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him at Seel Park cheering on his teammates in the future.”
