Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic incident in Audenshaw.
At around 12pm today (Sunday, September 28), emergency services were called to reports of a collision on Guide Lane.
It is believed that the driver of a Kia Rio suffered a medical episode at the wheel before the vehicle struck the wall of a nearby business property.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver – a man in his 80s – sadly died while being taken to hospital.
Police have now launched an appeal for information as they continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
A spokesperson for GMP said:
“This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area.”
