Mossley shows desire for Farmers Market at first event

MOSSLEY is home to a new farmers market – and if the first is anything to go by, it will be a great addition to the town.

Sunday, July 27, saw plenty of people attend the inaugural event at the Market Place.

And the variety of goods on offer went down well, with shoppers sampling everything from candles to honey to beer to moonshine.

The over-riding feeling of both customers and stallholders was one of: “Mossley needs something like this.”

A classic car show from Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club was also well received as Vauxhalls, Jaguars, Fords, Minis, Triumphs and others were displayed.

Although it may have made one or two feel old as: “I remember when these were sold new,” was heard.

Face painting was also on hand for the children, while the older ones could sample some of FatherMan Drinks’ beers and ciders or AK Moonshine’s products.

Plants were sold while bread, muffins and scones, Lancashire cheese, and fudge were also available.

And as the event is scheduled for the last Sunday of every month until October, expect it to prove a key date on the calendar.
