Murder, secrets and Hollywood glamour will come to Droylsden Little Theatre as a new production of an Agatha Christie classic brings Miss Marple back to the stage.
The Mirror Crack’d, adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff, will run from September 14 to 19, directed by John Cocks-Evans.
The production comes in the year marking the 50th anniversary of Christie’s death in 1976 and follows a murder investigation after a local fan is poisoned at a reception hosted by a famous movie star.
Jean Nicholson will reprise the role of Miss Marple, having previously played the detective in A Murder Is Announced at Guide Bridge Theatre.
She will be reunited with director John Cocks-Evans and four fellow cast members from that production, alongside six new actors in an 11-strong ensemble.
Wagstaff’s adaptation uses cinematic flashbacks to piece together the mystery, offering a different approach to the familiar Christie whodunit.
John said: “This is a fresher, different adaptation of Marple. Told in flashbacks, it’s a wonderful retelling of one of Agatha’s best mysteries.
“With its mix of small-town intrigue and cinematic glamour, we hope audiences will really enjoy taking this journey with us.”
The Mirror Crack’d runs at Droylsden Little Theatre from September 14 to 19.
