DRIVERS using the M60 near Audenshaw are being warned to expect a series of overnight closures as improvement work continues on the motorway.
The latest phase of essential repairs between junctions 23 and 24 in both directions will begin on Monday, June 29, and run until Tuesday, July 21.
The work follows the completion of drainage improvements in May and will now focus on resurfacing both carriageways, replacing traffic sensors and upgrading bridge joints, as well as refreshing road markings.
National Highways say most of the work will take place overnight, with lane restrictions and full carriageway closures needed to allow the work to be completed safely.
The planned closures include:
- Monday, June 29 (11pm to 6am): Full closure of the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
- Monday, July 6 (midnight to 6am): Full closure of the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
- Friday, July 10 (9pm to 6am): Full closure of the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
- Saturday, July 11 (6am to 9pm): Lane 1 closure on the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
- Saturday, July 11 (9pm) to Monday, July 13 (6am): Full closure of the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
- Monday, July 13 and Friday, July 17 (9pm to 6am): Full closure of the M60 clockwise between junction 23 and junction 24
- Saturday, July 18 (6am to 9pm): Lane 1 closure on the M60 clockwise between junction 23 and junction 24
- Saturday, July 18 (9pm) to Monday, July 20 (6am): Full closure of the M60 clockwise between junction 23 and junction 24
- Monday, July 20 (9pm to 6am): Full closure of the M60 anticlockwise between junction 24 and junction 23
Drivers are being advised to follow signed diversion routes and allow extra time for journeys while the work is taking place.
National Highways has warned that the works may create additional noise, particularly when the road surface needs to be dried before new markings are applied.
Closures may also change at short notice, so motorists are advised to check before travelling.
