AN AUDENSHAW theatre is looking forward to providing a warmer welcome thanks to a vital grant.
Guide Bridge, on Audenshaw Road, has been handed what it calls a ‘significant’ sum from the Suez Communities Fund, which has gone towards a number of improvements to its premises.
It is being used for the installation of new energy efficient windows throughout, insulation to the roof space and the works to the rear access arrangements.
As well as making the building warmer and more accessible, the work will also reduce Guide Bridge Theatre’s energy consumption and carbon emissions.
In what is described as a ‘key infrastructure project,’ new doors will replace the existing, manually operated entrance.
A spokesperson said: “These vital upgrades will dramatically improve the quality of the GBT experience with a warmer and safer more accessible experience for all users, ensuring that GBT remains a welcoming and inclusive space for the entire community.”
And Jake Hague, Guide Bridge Theatre’s director, added: “We are incredibly grateful to the Suez Communities Fund for this generous and crucial support in our key infrastructure project.
“Enhancing our facilities is a top priority for GBT and this grant has made it possible to tackle one of our most significant challenging issues, keeping the building warm and watertight.
“Our visitors and volunteers are already commenting on the warmer climate in the building and feeling the difference the insulation and windows have made.
“We look forward to welcoming many more patrons now the installation is complete.”
