AS World Diabetes Day is observed across the globe, one Dane Bank woman is celebrating her own milestone after transforming her health while living with Type 1 diabetes.
Christine, a long-standing member of the Slimming World Dane Bank group, has lost an impressive 4st 13.5lb – a achievement she says has helped her take control of her condition like never before.
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of eight, she is now in her 40th year of managing the illness. Despite the challenges that come with diabetes, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and problems with eyesight, she says the changes she has made have led to dramatic improvements.
Speaking about her journey, she said:

“I’m in my 40th year of being diabetic; I was diagnosed at the age of 8. With diabetes comes a multitude of health problems — high blood pressure, high cholesterol, failing eyesight are just a few. Thanks to Slimming World, my diabetes is the best it’s ever been. My blood pressure, cholesterol and even my eyes are improving. I’m 4st 13.5lb lighter and I feel fabulous.”
Her success has made her an inspiration within the Dane Bank group, showing that living with diabetes doesn’t prevent anyone from making significant lifestyle changes.
As World Diabetes Day highlights the realities faced by millions, Christine’s story offers a reminder of the difference support, determination and community can make.
