Rotary club launches Wrap Up Tameside to help locals stay warm this winter

Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club has launched its latest community campaign – Wrap Up Tameside – as part of the national Wrap Up UK initiative.

The annual appeal aims to collect winter coats, fleeces, scarves, hats and gloves to support charities helping people across the UK who are struggling to keep warm during the colder months.

This year’s local campaign runs throughout October and early November, with all donated items going to the Tameside Women’s Centre and several local homeless projects.

Residents are being urged to donate warm, winter-suitable coats at one of the local collection points:

  • Together Centre, Birch Lane, Dukinfield
  • St George’s Church, Church Walk, Stalybridge
  • Reach Church, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge
  • Stalybridge Junior Football Club, Mossley Road, Ashton-under-Lyne
  • Stalyhill Junior School, Hereford Way, Stalybridge

Club President Graham Fitton said:

“This is another example of Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club engaging with the local community whilst making a positive impact on the lives of people in our neighbourhoods. We are very keen to offer support to local families struggling to keep warm in their homes.”

Last year, the Rotary Club delivered over 150 winter coats to Tameside Women’s Centre and a further 250 coats and fleeces to local homeless projects — ensuring hundreds of people in need had access to warm clothing during the harshest months of the year.

For anyone able to contribute, the Rotary Club says even one coat can make a real difference to someone facing the cold this winter.
