Ashton teacher in running for top award

A TAMESIDE teacher is in the running to be named the best after being shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Christina McArdle, of St Damian’s RC Science College in Ashton-under-Lyne, is one of four nominated for the prize at the Educate Awards.

And she will find out if she can call herself simply the best when she is up against teachers from Stockport, St Helens and Leyland at a ceremony on Friday, November 14.

Christina was appointed as a ‘transition teacher’ to support students who have struggled to meet standards at primary school and help them make a successful move from key stage two to key stage three.
