Agatha Christie thriller coming to Guide Bridge Theatre stage

TAMESIDE theatre-goers are in for a suspense-filled treat this summer as one of Agatha Christie’s most intriguing whodunnits takes centre stage.

Iconic detective Miss Marple will be unravelling the mystery amid the twists, turns and tensions that the production at Guide Bridge Theatre guarantees.

Adapted for stage by Leslie Darbon and directed by John Cocks-Evans, A Murder is Announced will run from Monday, July 28, to Saturday, August 2 at the Audenshaw venue.

The play will open with an unsettling notice in the local newspaper that a murder will take place at 6.30pm at the home of Miss Letitia Blacklock.

The quiet village of Chipping Cleghorn is left baffled but, when the time comes and a stranger appears with murderous intent, the stakes become all too real.

What follows is a gripping mystery full of red herrings, hidden pasts and secret identities, all set against the backdrop of an ordinary English village turned crime scene.

Performances will take place at the Audenshaw Road venue each evening at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 6.45pm. A Saturday matinee performance will also be held at 2pm.

Tickets are priced at £11 each, or £9.90 for Guide Bridge Theatre members. Bookings can be made online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/gbt/e-plvygl
