Become part of the volunteer cast at Guide Bridge Theatre

GUIDE Bridge Theatre is looking for new people to join the team of volunteers that supports its productions.

The Audenshaw-based theatre is holding two volunteering events for anyone interested to find out more.

It’s not just actors on stage that make the show happen – there is also a cast of volunteers from backstage to front of house.

The theatre on Audenshaw Road will be opening its doors on Sunday, July 6, from midday to 2pm and Wednesday, July 9, from 6pm to 8pm.

People can come along to explore the theatre, meet its volunteer crew, try hands-on activities, and ask questions in a relaxed space while enjoying refreshments.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “Whether you’re a seasoned theatre-lover or just curious, we’d love to show you how you can get involved at Guide Bridge Theatre.

“Come and see what we’re all about at one of our open volunteering events. We look forward to meeting you.”

Guide Bridge Theatre has also recently started working with Willow Wood Hospice’s Retail team, who have been helping to supply props for their performances.

By renting selected items from the hospice’s charity shops at a much-lower cost than specialist prop hire companies, the theatre has saved money and storage space, as well as accessing unique, period-appropriate pieces.

Once shows have finished, Willow Wood’s team collects the items and returns them to the shops ready to be sold.

Paul King, the hospice’s Warehouse and Logistics Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Guide Bridge Theatre.

“It’s wonderful to see our donated goods taking on a second life on stage, helping to tell meaningful stories and entertain local audiences, all while raising funds for hospice care. It’s a beautiful example of community collaboration in action.”
