Mossley now ranked in top 10 of ‘underrated property hotspots’

MOSSLEY has another title to being one of the best places in the UK to live – it is an ‘underrated property hotspot.

The town was named as one of seven winners in the north west and as one of 72 locations around the country in the Sunday Times list.

Now that has brought a surge in interest in homes, with firm Sell House Fast putting in 10th in its ranking of the nation’s underrated hotspots.

Searches for ‘House prices in Mossley’ have doubled in the last three months, while the number of those looking for ‘Mossley house for sale’ has gone up by 53 per cent.

The average time of commuting to Manchester by road and rail, average house prices and the median annual pay contributed to Mossley’s top 10 spot.

And Jack Malnick, managing director of Sell House Fast said: “Mossley stands out as the most affordable town in our study.

“With average house prices just over £200,000, it offers remarkable value, especially for those looking to stay within reach of Manchester.

“It’s a particularly attractive option for first-time buyers or budget-conscious movers who don’t want to compromise on connectivity, with a fast 17-minute train into the city centre.

“While it may not have the same volume of amenities or schools as some of the higher-ranking towns, its affordability opens the door for those who might otherwise be priced out of Greater Manchester.

“As demand continues to spread beyond the city, Mossley offers an exciting opportunity for buyers looking to get in early in an up-and-coming area.”

Mossley’s place in the beat places to live in the UK list came after analysis of its people, its schools, its business and its facilities.

The Sunday Times wrote: “Pleasantly out on a limb, this former mill town offers fresh air, awesome scenery, good schools plus fast direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly – with a dash of non-conformist creativity thrown into the mix.”

That came as no surprise to the town’s MP, Jonathan Reynolds, who told The Correspondent: “It is great to see this recognition for Mossley as a special place.

“I particularly think the work of the very many community groups in Mossley should be acknowledged, and the way the town attracts new residents alongside those whose families have lived there for generations.”
