PROJECTS which attract more visitors and cultural opportunities to Tameside could be boosted by grant funding.
Up to £1,000 grants are available for artists and creative organisations to apply for – but there’s only a few weeks to get your applications in.
The Tameside Creative Communities Grant scheme is funded by Flexible Local Authority Grants and can help towards the delivery of new creative projects in the local area.
The funds can cover the costs of speakers; arts and crafts workshops; dance, theatre or music performances; developing a play or a film; creating an exhibition or art trail, or any other ‘reasonable’ costs for holding an activity or event.
The council says projects must support the creation of “an exciting and diverse programme” of cultural activities across Tameside; focus on creativity and celebrate “new and inclusive ways” of encouraging people to engage with the arts through activities and events; and bring people into town centres, invite them to explore green spaces or attract people from outside the borough.
The authority adds that grants will be awarded to “ensure an even spread of creative activity across Tameside” which spans all kinds of modes of creating and engaging.
Councillor Leanne Feeley, Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, said: “I’m really excited about this grant. I encourage artists, creative organisations and community groups to find out more.
“We welcome applications from people who are new to funding as well as those who have applied for other funding previously.”
Applications are now open and will close at midnight on June 16. To find out more, visit www.intameside.co.uk/news/tameside-creative-communities-grants
