LOCAL musicians and entertainers joined forces for a special cabaret-style fundraising event that’s been hailed a success.
Emmaus Mossley recently welcomed 100 guests for an evening of music, entertainment, food and mocktails.
The event raised over £2,000 for the homelessness charity, which says it’s putting the proceeds towards the refurbishment of its communal kitchen and dining room.
The ‘Viva Las Emmaus Cabaret’ featured live performances by musicians Kyla Brox, Madame Claude, Phil Mayers, Ian Mellor, singer Collette, and spoken word poet Lisa Moore.
Darren, who is one of the people supported by Emmaus Mossley, helped to organise the event.
“I thought it was a really fun, star-studded evening and everything ran as smoothly as it could have done,” he reflected.
“Every single act was amazing and everyone involved worked hard to set up beforehand and on the night – proving that hard work pays off. Massive thanks to everyone who attended and all those who helped to make it a successful evening.”
Hazel Hodkinson, Retail Manager, added: “I would like to give huge thanks to all the musicians, performers, volunteers, production manager Dave Jones, and both Danny and Sarah for creating a delicious menu of food and drinks.
“This was the first time we’ve held an evening event with a variety performance format but the effort everyone put in was well worth it.”
Next up for the charity is its Spring Fayre at the Secondhand Superstore on Saturday, March 22, from 10am to 4pm – when there will be seasonal items, fresh displays and sale items, alongside entertainment, homemade food and drinks.
Emmaus Mossley supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities.
