How to treat yourself this Christmas

THE end of the year seems to have come out of nowhere, with Christmas upon us once again.

With lots to think about, including shopping for presents and finding time to see our loved ones, we often forget to care for ourselves.

No matter how you choose to celebrate the holiday season, consider this article a reminder to treat yourself – remember, no one knows you better than you do.

Take time off work

Christmas is the time for some much-needed relaxation, so why burden yourself with hectic schedules? If you happen to have some annual leave left over, take a few days off either in the build-up to the big day or after – or both!

Use this time for some self-care, taking long baths, indulging in some festive treats, and watching Christmas movies on the sofa. It’s the perfect opportunity to rest your body clock and unwind, preparing you for the new year.

Look after your skin

No two people have the same skin, meaning you need to find a specific skincare regime that works for you. Christmas is the perfect time to give your skin some extra love, so consider booking a customised experience that will take you through a variety of products and treatments best suited to you.

During winter in particular, you’ll need a variety of products at your disposal, including a moisturiser, cleanser, exfoliator, and a rejuvenating mask – and don’t forget something for the lips too. During this time, you may be able to purchase these products as part of a set at a reduced price, so keep an eye out!

Revamp your home

With temperatures reaching below 0, December is when we usually choose to spend most of our time indoors. If you’re home looks as though it could do with a makeover, now is the perfect time to do so, especially if you’ll be welcoming family over.

You could do something as simple as replacing the handles in your kitchen and the fixtures in your bathroom, or you could go all out and transform your bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. At least then you’ll have space to store all your winter clothes once the sun comes back out.

Give in to your cravings

Christmas is the time for indulging without feeling guilty since we’ll likely not see some of our favourite treats for another year. Stock up on your favourite snacks, whether this is mince pies, pigs in blankets, or Wensleydale and cranberry cheese.

And don’t forget to wash this all down with your tipple of choice, such as eggnog, mulled wine, or a winter spiced punch.
