Women’s football team scores sweet deal from biscuit firm

A FAMOUS Tameside brand has kicked off what it hopes will be a sweet partnership with a local women’s football team.

Hill Biscuits says it is “proud” to have struck a sponsorship deal with Curzon Ashton Women.

The iconic logo of the firm – now one of the largest and longest established biscuit manufacturers in the UK – will be on the front of this season’s training kits.

Curzon Ashton Women currently play in the North-West Women’s Premier League competing in the League, County and the Adobe Women’s FA Cup competitions.

Hill Biscuits Sponsor Curzon Ashton Women’s Team

Women’s football is one of the fastest growing sports and has grown significantly in popularity year-on-year – from the Women’s Super League turning fully professional in 2018 to England’s Lionesses reaching the 2023 World Cup final.

“Sponsorships for women’s sports are on the rise, fuelled by a growing audience and more brands recognising the value of investing in women’s and girls’ sports,” said Cath Kay, from Hill Biscuits, based in Ashton-under-Lyne.

“It’s a way for us to connect with our local community while promoting both our brand and equality in sports.

“Hill Biscuits aligns perfectly with Curzon Ashton, promoting both local pride and athletic development.”

The Nashettes – who play their home games at Tameside Stadium like the men’s team – are completely self-funded and rely on sponsorships to help purchase kit and equipment and provide training and matchday facilities.

All income generated through sponsorship goes directly to funding the growth and sustainability of Curzon Ashton women’s teams.

“We cannot thank Hill Biscuits enough for their generous contribution,” said manager Dean O’Brien.

“Sponsorship deals are a much-needed source of income to allow our teams to develop at all stages. We hope to welcome you to the Tameside Stadium in the future, to showcase our talent and so that you can experience our ambition, our passion and our family-friendly environment.”
