FOUR fly-tippers in Hyde will be slapped with fines after a council crackdown.
They will receive a letter in the post after being caught dumping litter and waste recently.
The discoveries were made as councillors joined Tameside Council’s waste enforcement and community safety officers for the latest day of action.
The local authority’s ongoing Our Streets campaign involves working with the local community to “help make Tameside cleaner, greener and safer”.
They tackled litter and fly-tipping in the town centre, as well as hotspots in Godley and Newton.
Particular areas of focus included Henry Street, Oldham Street, Burkitt Street, Vernon Street, Croft Street, Syddall Street and Chapel Street.
Investigations found evidence leading to Fixed Penalty Notices being served to four people.
This takes the total number issued so far this year to 283, according to a council spokesperson, who said the local authority has also prosecuted 10 people in that time.
“These days of action really help to put the spotlight on this work and we’re pleased to see more positive results including more fines being issued as well as positive and helpful conversations with residents,” they added.
“Thank you to everyone who works with us to look after and take pride in our local neighbourhoods.”
Residents are being encouraged to report fly-tipping in their area online at www.tameside.gov.uk/flytipping
