Mossley walks its way on a wet Whit Friday

RESIDENTS schools and churches of Mossley gathered as the town marked Whit Friday with its annual walk.

And people were joined by political power as MP Jonathan Reynolds participated, along with Tameside Council’s Civic mayor, Cllr Betty Affleck, Mossley Councillors and members of Mossley Town Council.

St John’s Band

Mossley Band, St John’s Band, Mossley Hollins High School band and Wardle Academy did the honours as the sweet sound of brass music filled the air.

They were joined by churches and schools of all denominations turned out despite the drizzly weather.

Figures of the Virgin Mary were carried through the streets, while Rose Queens showed off their best.

And there was no shortage of people wanting to watch as crowds gathered in both Top and Bottom Mossley.
