A HYDE student has made the grade after earning a terrific trio of A* results.
Ada Chawner achieved top marks in maths, further maths and physics after a year’s hard work at Manchester’s Abbey College.
The 18-year-old was also commended for her outstanding writing skills, securing the coveted first-place prize in a creative writing competition themed around Manchester.
Now she will pursue that line by going to Lancaster University to study linguistics.
Abbey College has a teaching philosophy based on small classes and highly personalised learning in an academically rigorous but informal setting.
It works with students individually to achieve in what is described as ‘a unique alternative to traditional schools.’
And Chris Randell, principal at Abbey College Manchester, which lies in the city centre, believes she can go on to bigger things.
said: “We are incredibly proud of Ada for these exceptional results.
“She is a highly dedicated and hard-working student and we are pleased that her efforts have been rewarded.
“We are confident that Ada will go on to achieve great things and look forward to hearing of her future achievements.
“As a place where students and teachers work to achieve academic success together, we take great pride in helping our students to reach their full potential.”
