A STALYBRIDGE schoolboy ended up swapping his uniform for something a bit grander – Tameside’ mayoral robes.
Shawaiz Mehmood was picked out when Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover, Mayoress Anne Gordon and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Taf Sharif, visited Stalyhill Infants.
And the full team – which was making its first visit to a school – ended up with a new member for the day.
The visit also saw those who normally wear the chains of office speak about their roles and the importance of civic participation.
Then they were put through the wringer in a question and answer session, with ‘many inquisitive questions’ asked of them.
