MOSSLEY Town Council has been told a reasonable bid for an area of land must be put together or it will be sold on the open market.
Owners of the zone on Greaves Street want to dispose of the Asset of Community Value (ACV).
And after registering itself as a potential bidder, delaying any sale until May 5, it has been told there will be no further extension.
And reports had already outlined the timescale the authority is working to.
It said: “The Clerk has written to solicitors acting on behalf of the owners of the land seeking the owner’s intentions for the site and views on how the community can support use as an open space.
“In response, the solicitors acting for the owner have advised it is their client’s intention to dispose of the land and cannot comment on the intentions of any purchaser’s use of the land.
“In response to further enquiry as to whether the owner has a timescale and marketing plan for the site or whether any terms have been agreed with a potential purchaser of the land, solicitors advised the owner is proposing to sell the land as soon as the time period has elapsed for any community interest group to place its bid.
“In the absence of an acceptable bid from any community interest group the owners will dispose of the land on the open market.”
