STALYBRIDGE Cricket Club are confident fortunes will improve as they battle relegation in their first full season in division one of the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League.
They reached the halfway stage of the season still winless and have yet to register a league victory in 11 attempts.
However, performances have started to improve, and they will be looking to break their duck at mid-table Hayfield on Saturday (July 31).
The second team, however, are mid-table in division three with Madussar Bashir’s 10-wicket haul against Hollingworth – remarkably all bowled – the highlight of the season.
Other notable performances in the second team have come from Alex Wilde, Dave Cramner and Ravi Patel with the bat while Ned Woodman picked up a five-wicket haul with the ball.
The Under 11 and U13 teams have been playing regularly and competing in their first season in the Derbyshire and Cheshire League with Friday junior nights and still attracting large numbers and increasing volunteers thanks to some of the parents
This has also allowed plans to be put in place a third team in the 2022 season, allowing a mix of the older juniors, keen parents, the wider senior squad and a chance for new players to be given every opportunity to enjoy the improved facilities the club can now offer.
