Royal British Legion marks 100 years

MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion braved the rain to mark its 100th anniversary.

Ceremonies were held to commemorate the day in 1921 when four men representing different ex-servicemen organisations laid a wreath at London’s Cenotaph.

And at Ashton, the occasion was marked with a ceremony at the town’s war memorial on Saturday, May 15, with members joined by Tameside councillor Vimal Choksi and Mossley Town Council’s Frank Travis.
