MOSSLEY’S youngsters have made an unbeaten start to their northern division campaign in the Education and Semi-Pro Football Academy League.
The new-look Mossley academy team kicked off with a 1-0 win at Radcliffe FC with victory secured through a first-half goal from Tcherno Djalo. The Lilywhites’ defenders had to work overtime to keep the Radcliffe attack at bay in the second half but stood firm to collect three points.
The second game away at Brighouse Town on Thursday, October 22 finished 2-2.
It was a hard-earned draw in which Mossley displayed great resilience having fallen 2-0 behind in the opening period.
The young Lilywhites slowly grew into the game and long-range efforts from Ryan Williams and Djalo flew past the post or over the crossbar.
Mossley made three substitutions at half time and penned the home defence back for long periods before Djalo netted with a neat finish in the 75th minute followed by a great strike from by Isaac Lopez five minutes later.
The Mossley boys continued to push for a winner when Djalo saw his cross shot beat the Brighouse goalkeeper but come back into play off the upright.
All in all, it has been a promising start as the Lilywhites go into the half-term holidays unbeaten with home games to be arranged in November. They will take place at Seel Park on Thursdays with noon kick offs.
