Lilywhites’ academy campaign hit by delay

MOSSLEY’S start to their Northern Premier League Football Academy campaign has been delayed.

The Lilywhites’ opening match in the northern division of what is now known as the English Semi Professional Football Academy, against Witton Albion at Seel Park on Thursday, October 8, has been postponed.

All academy games scheduled for October 8 have been cancelled due to administrative problems.

Mossley will now kick off their campaign at Radcliffe Borough on October 15 and hit the road again on October 22 to Brighouse Town.

They have been teamed in the northern division with Ossett United, Brighouse Town, Radcliffe Borough, Runcorn Linnets, Skelmersdale United and Witton Albion.

This year’s Mossley squad comprises three third year students who taking an extended diploma course, seven students entering their second year and 10 new first year students.

The top three teams from each of the three divisions will play in a knockout competition to determine the national champions, the others being Midlands and Southern.
