AGE UK Tameside is a community charity supporting older people for more than 40 years.
It is based at 131 Katherine Street, Ashton, where the ground floor is dementia friendly with additional mobility adaptions.
It houses a dining space, several lounges and a large activity room which leads to a calming and relaxing ‘Oasis’ garden and seating area.
The centre also houses its staff team, in-house catering and dance fitness studio, with a range of office and meeting room space to hire and lease.
It is able to provide a ‘one stop shop’, service to older people, from help to apply for welfare benefits, legal advice, joining a social club, keeping fit and staying active, to the more challenging issues in later life like living with dementia, caring for loved ones, falls prevention or someone to talk to when life feels more down than up.
Some services are offered in the homes of older people, and for others they offer transport as part of the service.
They have a fantastic well trained, professional team and a team of volunteers, many have given their time to the charity for more than 10 years and together they are proud of the work they do with older people.
