AN APPEAL has gone out to help make a new unit being created at Tameside Hospital as comforting and bright as possible.
The ground floor of the Stamford Unit, which lies closest to Darnton Road in Ashton, will be a Palliative/End of Life Care Unit from Monday.
And ahead of it being put to its new use, a call for items to go in ‘comfort packs’ for relatives of patients and staff has been made.
Also, as many paintings or bright pictures are wanted from children to add some colour to the unit.
For the ‘comfort packs’, items such as deodorant, soap, shampoo, shower gels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, face wipes, pens, puzzle books, crosswords, notebooks, packets of tissues and lip balm have been requested.
And the artwork is to a maximum size of A3 – or 29.7cm x 42cm – to allow for laminating.
All donations and pictures can be sent to Crickets Lane Health Centre, Crickets Lane, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6NG and should be marked for the attention of Leanne Murphy or Emma Frain.

Hi,
Just wondering would the care packages need to be put in the mail or is there a safe place to drop them at the health centre whilst still keeping social distancing?
