TAMESIDE Council has organised collection points for local foodbanks and the Tameside Toy Appeal in all Tameside libraries and children’s centres as well as customer services in Tameside One in Ashton.Council and NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group staff are also running collections for both appeals in their workplaces.
Foodbanks are particularly in need of long-life milk and powdered milk, tinned fish, meat and vegetables, sponge puddings, custard, cartons fruit juice, cordial, coffee, chocolates, jam, rice, instant mash and Christmas goods. But no baked beans or dried pasta as foodbanks already have enough of these.
The deadline for foodbank donations is Friday, November 29.
Tameside 4 Good’s Toy Appeal aims to ensure every child has a gift to unwrap on Christmas morning.
People are asked to donate new and unused gifts for 0-18 year olds which will be distributed to families through Tameside children’s centres.
Gifts for babies and teenagers are particularly welcome as they are usually in short supply. The deadline for toy appeal donations is December 6.
