Nominations open for Pride of Tameside Sport and Physical Activity Awards

NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2019 Pride of Tameside Sport and Physical Activity Awards.

Active Tameside is looking for sports achievers, coaches, clubs and volunteers who have made a difference to sport and physical activity in Tameside. Nominations will close on August 4.

Those who are lucky enough to be shortlisted for an award will be invited to the presentation evening on Friday, September 27 at Dukinfield Town Hall.

The winners from the Tameside awards will then have the chance to go on to represent the borough at the Greater Manchester Awards later in the year.

There are nine awards categories that clubs, schools and individuals can be nominated for, which are: Changing Lifestyle; Community Club/Group of the Year; Young Sports Achiever of the Year; Unsung Hero; Volunteer of the Year; School Commitment to PE and Sport; Disabled Physical Activity Champion; Workforce Advocate; Community Initiative.

The Awards provide the opportunity for the people of Tameside to say thank you and well done to those who have done something remarkable in their chosen sport or activity.

Many different sports have been represented in previous years, including archery, athletics, ten pin bowling, cricket, boxing and cycling.

Entering is easy and anyone can nominate a Tameside sports star who they believe is a winner.
